"Tell me: Just how black are you?"

It's been ten years since this layered question was first posed to me; and I'm no closer to the answer now, than I was back then. Can blackness be quantified, revealed in the results of an ancestry test? Can it be understood outside of the constraints of whiteness whose construct is rooted in white supremacy? Is it possible to experience its unspoken magical essence without being baptized in the pain of its history?

Just how black is an ethnoautobiographical exploration into what it means to be black within the African diaspora. This one-woman show revisits conversations that challenge, accept, and reject notions of a universal definition.
